Jun 16, 2022 · I have the new (post-2014) genie remote, not the big universal one. A couple days ago I was watching tv and at first it was working as normal, but then the tv wasn't responding to the remote and the receiver was. I was able to change the channel but not the volume. So I tried a number of things to fix the issue (I think the real problem was ... REASONS. 1. The issue arises from the remote batteries if they are weak or completely drained. 2. The remote will stop responding if there are obstructions between the remote and the receiver. 3. If the remote buttons are jammed due to excessive dirt stored at the edge of the buttons. 4.To reset the receiver, press the red button on the receiver and wait for it to restart and see if that resolved the issue. My system consists of a Genie 2 HS17-500 and 2 C61W-700 mini receivers. One upstairs in a living room and one downstairs in a TV room. The mini receiver upstairs is not responsive to the fast forward and rewind feature on the remote. Sometimes it will work but it's very sluggish when it does. The one downstairs works flawlessly.
